The Deadline

On March 31, 2027, AWS will end support for Amazon RDS Custom for Oracle. AWS recommends migrating before that date — after it, you’ll lose access to the RDS Custom for Oracle console and your RDS Custom for Oracle resources.

March 31, 2026 – March 31, 2027: AWS’s recommended migration window.
March 31, 2027: RDS Custom for Oracle reaches end of support.
After March 31, 2027: Console and resource access ends.

Exadata Database Service on Exascale Infrastructure in Oracle AI Database@AWS

Familiar model — customer-managed like RDS Custom, no re-architecture.
Stays in AWS — runs natively inside AWS, with full Exadata performance.
Lower barrier to entry — consumption-based pricing, starting small.
Room to grow — Oracle Autonomous Database remains available later if you want Oracle to fully manage it.

The Migration Path

The recommended approach is Oracle Zero Downtime Migration (ZDM), using Data Pump with Amazon S3 as the intermediate store — the same method Oracle uses for other Oracle Cloud database migrations.

Tammy is a product manager and focuses on database cloud services Exadata Database, Base Database, and Multicloud to help our customers modernize their solutions while experiencing agile development, high availability, and lower operational cost with cloud economics.

Nathan Fuzi, Lead Principal Product Manager, Oracle

Nathan has worked with the Oracle Database and enterprise applications since the 90s. He brings his experience as an administrator, developer, performance consultant, and cloud solutions architect to the role of Product Manager with Oracle where he focuses on Oracle Cloud Database Services and multicloud solutions.
