Our customer is a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing new therapies to treat disorders of the central nervous system (CNS). The company has a portfolio of experimental neuroscience therapies, which include three clinical-stage compounds and several pre-clinical compounds designed to target a broad range of CNS disorders, including Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, epilepsy, schizophrenia, and addiction. Headquartered in the Greater Boston area, the company was formed in 2018 through a partnership between a major private investment firm and multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology corporation. The company is currently in the clinical stage awaiting FDA drug approval.
Company Overview
The customer engaged Apps Associates’ Advisory practice to help them with their strategic roadmap around Oracle Cloud SCM, best practices and integrations. As a clinical stage organization, they were preparing for a commercial go live with a multi-drug portfolio. They needed assistance establishing a comprehensive supply chain management roadmap and digital strategy that was “business friendly” – one that aligned with business terminologies, acknowledged interdependencies across work streams, and identified the required technology to be utilized. They also needed a future-state SCM digital roadmap to support their Technical Operations plan to move from clinical to commercial operations.
Objectives and Challenges
The engagement with Apps Associates included five virtual SCM digital strategy workshop sessions. These sessions were structured to align with the steps of the life science “Product Journey Path to Patient”. During the strategy sessions, nine level-1 and twenty-seven level-2 SCM system best practices were reviewed. The best practices, in alignment with the Product Journey Path to Patient, were reconciled to the customer’s Technical Operations Commercial Launch roadmap.
