Modernizing Workforce Analytics for a Global Healthcare Organization with Azure Analytics

A global healthcare organization dedicated to advancing women’s health operates in more than 35 countries and employs approximately 7,000 professionals worldwide. The company develops innovative medical technologies, aiming to deliver exceptional clinical outcomes and improve access to care. They required a robust, scalable infrastructure to modernize their human capital management reporting and analytics capabilities, seeking a comprehensive system capable of processing large volumes of complex data and delivering clear, actionable insights to business leaders.

Customer Overview

The organization faced challenges related to data visibility and the need to extract structured data from the existing Human Capital Management (HCM) Cloud application and Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service (PBCS). The primary objective was to establish a centralized, secure data warehouse that could seamlessly integrate with their Oracle HCM Cloud. They needed to transform raw workforce data into interactive, user-friendly dashboards focusing on core HR metrics and recruitment, while maintaining strict data quality, integrity, and object-level security.

Challenges & Objectives

Apps Associates partnered with the organization to execute a comprehensive Azure Analytics implementation.

  • Our data engineering team utilized Azure Databricks as the primary data lake and warehouse to establish a highly structured, medallion architecture consisting of Raw, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum layers. 
  • We extracted 49 Public View Objects (PVOs) and 5 Business Intelligence (BI) Publisher objects from the source systems, cleaned inconsistencies, and transformed the data. 
  • Our Power BI developers translated business requirements into technical specifications, modeling the data to build secure, interactive reports without disrupting current operations.

Our Approach

The implementation delivered a highly automated and secure analytics ecosystem. We successfully deployed three comprehensive Power BI dashboards—focusing on active employees, departing employees, and recruitment and requisition. These dashboards feature 50 distinct visualizations for HCM and 50 distinct visualizations for Oracle Recruiting Cloud (ORC), including KPIs, graphs, and detailed tables. The solution provides automated metadata updates and executes daily data refreshes, ensuring leadership always has access to accurate, up-to-date information.

With the new Azure Databricks and Power BI framework implemented by Apps Associates, the organization now has a scalable platform for real-time, data-driven decisions. Seamless integration and automation have reduced inefficiencies and improved visibility into critical workforce data.
