On March 27th, 2020 The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act was signed into law. There is over $2 trillion of economic relief targeted to US citizens and business. There are some specific attributes of this act that are targeted to many businesses that are Oracle customers from a HR, Payroll and Benefits perspective. Below, we will review information from My Oracle Support (MOS), in an attempt to uncover support that Oracle has provided to accommodate the CARES act. The primary beneficiaries from these updates are customers that have Absence Management, Leave and Payroll.
Although the CARES Act is specific to the United States, there are many of countries that have provided legislative support for Oracle customers because of COVID-19. Please review below for detail on how Oracle is supporting other countries with COVID-19 related updates.
Oracle has provided patches, recommendations and support for COVID 19 legislative updates for both Oracle HCM Cloud and EBS HCM. The patches provide updates to the legislative reports that were amended to accommodate COVID reporting requirements. There is configuration (absences, elements, etc.) that cannot be updated by patch. Configuration items, such as elements, absence types and absences, may need to be manually created, modified or replaced to accommodate COVID statutory reporting. The documents from Oracle Support provide recommendations for configuration updates.
The HCM Cloud updates are more comprehensive versus the EBS updates in terms of both functionality and countries supported. The specific functional areas that have patches are Absence Management for both the United Kingdom and the United States, Core Human Resources and Oracle Cloud Payroll. The countries that Oracle Payroll supports have the appropriate updates provided. There is some payroll supported legislations that will receive technical updates at a later, undetermined date.
The EBS COVID patches are limited to EBS Payroll and Absence Management for the United States.
