The Freedom to Learn – Shiva’s Apps Associates Experience

In your opinion, what qualities make someone successful within Apps?

In an organization like Apps Associates, where employees have direct access to leadership — including the CEO — I believe one of the most important qualities for success is the ability to openly communicate ideas and feedback.

When we see ourselves as integral contributors to the organization and confidently share our perspectives, it removes the self-imposed glass ceiling that people sometimes carry. It also allows leadership to better recognize an individual’s capabilities, initiative, and potential.

I also feel it is important to align one’s personal vision with the company’s vision by actively seeking feedback and continuously evolving.

Beyond that, on a personal level, maintaining a strong work ethic and building meaningful professional relationships has been extremely valuable for me. Those relationships and trust have opened multiple doors and created opportunities throughout my journey at Apps.

Can you provide a brief overview of your role and responsibilities within Apps?

As part of the Infra Managed Services team at Apps Associates, I play multiple roles. I lead Team Patriot while also serving as a TDM for a few major clients.

A key part of my responsibility is enabling my team with the right tools, guidance, and support so they can succeed and consistently deliver the best outcomes for our clients.

In my role as a TDM, I focus on understanding the client’s business needs, long-term vision, and operational goals. I believe success comes not just from solving technical challenges, but from building strong relationships and becoming a trusted partner in the client’s overall success story.

How long have you been with Apps, and what initially attracted you to this role?

I have been with Apps Associates for more than five years.

What initially attracted me — and continues to motivate me — is the freedom to learn without boundaries and explore different areas to discover where one truly fits best. Over the years, I’ve had opportunities to work across multiple dimensions of the business, ranging from pre-sales activities to leadership and mentorship responsibilities.

The ability to continuously grow, explore new challenges, and spread one’s wings is something Apps genuinely encourages, and I believe that is one of its greatest strengths.

Can you share an example of how collaboration plays a role in your day-to-day work?

Collaboration plays a significant role in my day-to-day work because most of the responsibilities I handle require close coordination across teams, clients, and leadership.

One example that stands out is while leading Team Patriot and managing major client engagements as a TDM. Many situations involve balancing technical execution, client expectations, delivery timelines, and internal coordination simultaneously. Success in such scenarios is rarely an individual effort — it comes from bringing together people with different strengths and expertise.

Whether it is resolving critical production issues, planning large infrastructure activities, or supporting long-term client initiatives, collaboration becomes the foundation. My team members contribute technical depth, leadership provides strategic direction, and clients share their business priorities, allowing us to work toward a common goal.

I also strongly believe collaboration is not limited to work execution alone. It involves creating an environment where people feel comfortable sharing ideas, asking questions, and supporting each other. Some of the best outcomes I’ve seen have come from open discussions and collective problem-solving rather than isolated decision-making.

At Apps, the accessibility of leadership and the willingness of teams to support one another make collaboration a very natural part of the culture, and that has played a major role in both my growth and the success of the projects I’ve been part of.

How would you describe Apps’ culture and working environment?

For someone familiar with Formula 1 jargon, I would describe Apps Associates as a race track that combines the speed of Spa-Francorchamps, the technical demands of Suzuka, and the precision required at Monaco.

The environment is fast-paced, challenging, and constantly pushing you to improve — but at the same time, the colleagues around you feel like the best pit crew you could ask for. They not only help you learn and grow, but also genuinely support and cheer for you when you are out there giving your best.

That balance of high performance and strong teamwork is what makes the culture unique for me.
